Consequently I thought I'd try, and whaddyaknow, it works: I can happily browse the internet, at roaming rates that are usually £7.50/MB, for nothing, since getting money out of my empty PAYG account is as futile as getting blood out of a stone. The only caveat is a series of messages that appear occasionally that say "you need at least 17 pence to use your unlimited web and wifi bundles" and these messages don't bother me too much.
Presumably O2 are powerless to stop the use of 3G while roaming or some such situation. The messages don't bother me too much either, and not having the unbelievably privilege of being able to place calls or send texts at £99999/call/text doesn't bother me too much either in return for free internet abroad. However what would bother me is if O2 got nasty and decided to cancel my phone/phone number/free web&wifi/etc.
So long story short, what do you guys think is the chance of them finding out? Have I got free roaming 3G internet'made for me as long as I have no credit on my PAYG account, or should I quit very rapidly while I'm ahead? Speculation on a postcard please
