It is funny. I've been reading it. Which makes two of us!
Oh and I'm coming over to see you both next month, having fought with Flybe and my bank.
I'm hijacking this thread now for a brief rant. You can have it back in a few moments.
Booking flights though Flybe's website, it refused to accept my Maestro card. Hmmm. Am I overdrawn? Don't think so but will log on to Northern Bank internet banking to check. Oh, fuck, I've installed Windows 7 haven't I? That comes with IE8. And lo and behold their internet banking system doesn't work with that. I try Google Chrome. Which means it wants their other internet banking system that wants an "ActiveKey" which they haven't sent me as I'm on the other system.
So I call and ask for advice. "No sir, it's not the bank's fault as Internet Explorer 8 hasn't signed up to our system". I suggest that perhaps Microsoft doesn't much care what system the Northern Bank uses and it's the bank's problem. "Certainly not sir. I'll send you an ActiveKey dongle though and then you can use whatever browser you like". Sigh.
Anyway, he confirms I'm not overdrawn and that Flybe's system hasn't actually asked anything of my card, so their system appears broken.
I give in and use my Mastercard to book the flights on the basis that they'll probably put them up £30 while I'm trying to sort this and it works fine.
Is it too cynical of me to think that they would deliberately break the Maestro booking system so that you were either forced to call them at £1 a minute or pay them an extra £5 to use a credit card?
I'm cross now.
UPDATE EDIT: No, in fact the Northern Bank has just worked out that it's whole point of sale card authorisation system is fooked and has been for hours.
Anyway if you really want a shameless plug I'll see if we can get you on Steve Wright in the Afternoon as that's where most shameless plugs seem to be these days. Is it a book or a DVD?
