Does everyone else think this is an absolutely horriffic occurrence? It's very saddening to know that something like this has happened without any closure for the families of the (supposedly) deceased.

However, I do have to share these wonderful gems from aviation experts on the Daily Mail webshite. Well, I say "experts" but they could be taxi drivers as they seem to talk with considerable authority on a subject they know fuck all about.

So all AF 330s will now be recalled I presume?

Yes. I saw an accident in a Ford Ka this morning, so everyone I see driving a Ford Ka will be shot just to get them off the road because they're clearly unsafe.

It wasn't a bomb. The Black Boxes will not be found which will prove it wasn't a bomb. Reading all the reports I don't think it was a bomb. That makes me feel better the next time I board a plane.

If I was flying I would have preferred the bomb theory as you know what happened anything else would make me very nervous as it could happen to all A330 planes.

Yes, I can see his point. I would rather be blown up by a bomb from those nice terrorists than those twatting thunderstorms. And a bomb - well you know what happened! But anything else could happen to ALL A330 planes! And we know bombs only affect Boeings. Arse.

I feel much better in the knowledge that these guys are investigating the crash for us in the place of people who are fully qualified and paid to do it. Mind you, I prefer the Mirror's comments because they're just pure gold. I enjoyed a lunch hour yesterday listening to two girls debating this terrible event. The fact the plane hasn't been found must surely prove it didn't just crash, it must have been hijacked and taken to an uninhabited island. Of course, the search area being eight times the size of Europe and not many uninhabited islands having runways is immaterial. Another theory was that it landed in Bermuda. This was part of a wider conversation about one of them possibly being pregnant - I sympathise for the child - and one of them challenging a parking ticket with the reason that they had parked in the same space before and not received a parking ticket.

The first evidence of the fate of the aircraft has now been found, including two bodies. Forensic tests on the items recovered should be able to discount bombing at least. There's at least closure for the relatives of the two too.
