I'm very into my music, and my mood for what I want to listen to varies on an hourly basis!

To have any one of my tracks 'on demand' would be perfection.

I'm not one for telling people what to do, but re-evaluate your definition of perfection!

Sorry, Gav. I was watching France 24 the other day, and after a reporter handed back to the studio, the newsreader said "thank you [insert name], that was perfect".

I thought it was a ludicrous thing to say, and now I'm bloody doing it!!

Actually it reminded me of Chandler Bing saying "gum would be perfection".

Made me laugh.

One of the members of staff in the Orange store in Glasgow said the other day that there was going to be a 'newer version of the iPhone released in the Summer' and it will 'possibly be joining the Orange network'. If that's the case, maybe I'll upgrade from my Blackberry Bold (but have got used to it now!).

There is also the possibility of the BB Storm coming to Orange too!!

Well, I've bit the bullet and purchased an iPhone 3G. My contract ran out with T Mobile and I had always said to myself that if the iPhone wasn't available on them by that time then I'd leave and join O2. Maybe it will appear on T Mobile, maybe it won't, I won't deny I'll regret it a bit if it does but neh.

I'm rather excited about it now. And I agree 16GB should be enough for anyone. If you want "any track on demand", you should probably look into some kind of music streaming solution. That said the market for flash memory annoys me. It's artificially kept lower than it needs to be by the various manufacturers, who want to maximise their profit by getting the early adopters for each increase.

OK, first things first, I absolutely love my iPhone. It's everything I thought it would be.

However I have a question for the veteran iUsers here :-)

Basically I have absolutely no interest in JailBreaking my iPhone EXCEPT that I really rely on the 'tethering' feature that Windows Mobile devices have traditionally offered. So I wanted to ask for a bit of guidance, namely:

1. If I jailbreak, how easy is it to go back to where I was before?
2. If I jailbreak, will I lose all the music and apps I have spent ages loading on to my device?
3. If I restore with iTunes, will I lose all my apps and music?
4. If apple release a firmware update and I am using a jailbroken iPhone, will my phone become usless - what happens in that scenario?
5. Is there any plausible scenario with jailbreaking where my phone will become useless?
6. What is the best jailbreaking app for Windows?

I'd be really grateful if someone with an iPhone who's done the Jailbreaking process explains what the answer to those questions - thanks :-)

I assume you bought it in full knowledge of it being replaced with a newer model next month? sorry, no idea about jailbreaking :) I just noticed you'd bought one!

Ugh, the embedded battery is a turn off for this phone. Watch battery life go into decline after about 6 months regular usage. Then it's a case of sending the phone off to Apple for a replacement.

Well I couldn't wait :) and I can't really think of any hardware improvements I want from it, 3G is fast enough and I like the camera as it is! The main changes I want are software based which of course I expect to get in the updates

I am fairly confident the Orange Shop guy was talking out of his arse with the suggestion that Orange UK will be getting an iPhone. O2 have a contract with Apple to be the exclusive carrier here, and it's most likely they will fight tooth and nail to be the carrier in the future.

There is likely to be a new iPhone announced, perhaps as early as next month, but it will probably not be released for another month after that at the earliest.

The iPhone 3.0 software is at beta 5 as of today, and I've been testing version of it for the past 2 months. It's excellent, with improved speed, a few new features, and most notably the sending and receiving of MMS, and Copy/Cut/Paste. I believe this is close to release, and will probably happen during the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference next month.

One thing I do know is that the Palm Pre will be on Orange as the exclusive UK carrier - this seems even more exciting as it looks like a brilliant phone. I'm expecting to stick with the iPhone platform, however, as it does exactly what I want.
