And, of course, their breaking news graphics appear 'beneath' the picture in the black areas.

Saying that, it looks better than when the BBC regions used to have fake 14:9 appearing a split second after they were cut to.

The public have never been trustworthy when it comes to gadgets, viz:

"Listen to this great stereo" = mono audio coming through two loudspeakers, one of which has a shattered cone.

"I get perfect reception with an indoor aerial" = except when I move about the room and get atrocious ghost images

"The dealer came and said I needed a digital aerial" = the dealer saw me coming

"Aren't these HD pictures fantastic?" = I have more money than sense, bought a plasma screen that's larger than a piano and am viewing "Dave Javu" with the setting at "centre cutout". You can see the line structure from the kitchen........

"I've got quad sound" (see the first quote but change to three shattered cones)

"There's nothing wrong with my old telly" = apart from non-linearity giving everybody heads like ET, lack of HT meaning the picture can only be viewed with the curtains closed and the streetlamp outside switched off, misconvergance and purity so bad that monochrome programmes still have bags of colour, severe RF patterning as a result of the DVD player radiating on the same channel as five, and the obligatpry shattered cone in the 1.5 inch loudspeaker....
