I was mulling this over and can't be arsed to google it. I know not all fats are created equal: can the same be said of sugars, like the sugars in cake and the sugars in milk? I'm inclined to think no but frankly I'm looking for any angle that lets me have more cake.

Chocolate cake releases endorphins that make you live longer.

Is the best angle I can do.

I'll take it. It's marginally better than "without chocolate there is no reason to live"

Why yes I AM a fat single woman.

Yes, there are complex sugars in fruit, as opposed to the refined stuff - but in the case of Alpen they added refined sugars and salt for taste - hence the "no added sugar or salt" variety you can find in the supermarket now.

Which, by the way, is gash.

May need to pop a leaflet out to Stevek to explain that one.

That's why I stick to sugar puffs. You know what you're getting.

Ugh, can't believe you like the artificially sweetened version. It's so sugary and sickly it sets my teeth on edge. Never been an Alpen fan anyway - it's because of that strange dust you get at the end of a packet which seems to turn the milk into a paste. I'm more of a Jordans boy, adding my own fruit and bits for some extra flavour.

And on the subject of Stevek, surely he should be more worldly wise, given that he works in a school... and moderates another forum (don' cha know).

I think he works with junior school age kids - as we've been likened to them many times (usually accompanied by the :x emoticon).

Oddly, I seem to have reduced my sugary intake so much (i used to coat weetabix with 3mm of sugar, now i use none) that frosties now make me feel ill due to their fakeness.

No the point of this post is actually to once again try and plug Sainsburys Blueberry Wheats as the fabbest cereal in the universe. But not the tesco version as its shit, I think people should try it and report back to this thread

Hyma, this means WAR.

The Tesco wheat selection is beyond fab, the really lead the way in new flavours. Pomegranite and raspberry is great although takes getting used to. Their blueberry wheats are also extremely good though.

I challenge you to a wheat-off. Can you wheat the difference?

yes, easily. the tesco ones ar ethe ones that taste fake and poor whereas the sainsburys ones are awesome.

plus given your track record on the cola, i know fine well you'll be at the shop buying both tomorrow so you can compare.

I would but my local sainsbury's doesn't even stock own-brand (Fruit) wheats, and the other one I visit only stocks the Raisin variety (the Kellog's one is beyond nasty in every respect, has far too high a fluff to fruit ratio). I just can't believe anything can surpass the wonder that is tesco blueberry wheats.

however despite my denial i am prepared to be proven wrong!
