There's inadequate heating in my flat for me to enjoy the cold snap for any aesthetic reasons.
Woke up in the early hours, duvet having slipped slightly off me, and I was freezing cold.
Horrible.
It's Snowing!

I don't have central heating Gav! So my only heat is from my neighbours ( i like being mid terrace) and elec fires. Immersion for hot water.
My boiler broke ages ago, not got round to replacing it yet. And after 2 winters without it i don't think i'll bother with CH ever again.

Mental anxiety, Mental breakdowns, Menstrual cramps, Menopause... Did you ever notice how all our problems begin with Men?
I also have the luxury of a broken boiler, and a Velux window that is poorly weighted and thus swings open (I have tried all manner of DIY approaches to keep it closed - contraptions which Heath Robinson would probably be proud of; various systems involving hanging weights from the front ledge across a pulley carefully afffixed to the wall which pulls the window closed again (can't hang it from the back ledge you understand, it's nicely sheared off) but which failed as soon as the pulley did... I have also been flirting with the idea of setting up a bird on the opening end of the window, in the hope that lots of heavy birds will land and keep the thing shut. However it's more likely they'd fly inside and nibble at me. Currently I am just going for a rather more simple method of keeping it shut involving parcel tape and lots of it. I am rather hoping the parcel tape won't break before I can get some duck tape to reinforce it. Isn't the government supposed to be worrying about us elderly people who are likely to catch pneumonia and die?
My other half (who also works for the Uni) said there were only a dozen or so turned up for the protest outside. Which building did they take over?Sput wrote:Well, it's a lot like moronic Palestine protesters. No-one knows quite where they'll strike but there's a good chance people will have to leave the office and work from home when they invade your workspace.

Mine. TSK. Even in their convoluted way of thinking it's impossible to think of a reason other than it was closest to the central building they HAD been occupying until they were kicked out.
I hope they get firehosed. That'd be so fab. I had a lot to do today.

Well, just as you've been getting a bit more snow, we've been getting a bit more heat here. Melbourne has recorded its highest temperature ever today - a blistering 46.4°C. The previous high was 45.6°, registered in January 1939. Thankfully a cool change has swept through and knocked over 15° off the temperature, and we're going to have temperatures in the low to mid 20s the next few days.
