UPLOAD SERVICE REACHES v1.3
Image

Code: Select all

Upload Service Change Log
v 1.3 21/05/09
Proper thumbnail URLs that respect anonymous ("hidden") and non-anonymous URLs
v 1.2 18/05/09
        phpBB session integration
v 1.11 11/04/09
Bugfix: Can now upload filenames containing exclamation marks
        Moderator panel improved

v 1.1 21/03/09
Thumbnail generation for PNG, JPG, GIF
BBCode generation for files and files with thumbnails

v1.02 21/3/09
        Cumulative security update

v1.01 27/01/09
        Spaces in filenames sorted out
Files loading in browser window instead of insisting on download
        Help pages updated.

v1.0 26/01/09
Hit counter for each non-hidden file now appears in "your uploaded files".
Potentially executable file extensions now preserved for non-hidden files,
remain .txt for hidden files as it's a direct link

v0.96.1 26/01/09
Upload in progress bar appears upon form submit.

v0.96 24/01/09
Pretty URLs with folders for each user implemented, ugly anonymous URLs
for hidden files so they can't be traced back to the user via the link.
Proper file extensions now recorded instead of just the last 3 characters.
Also, files ending .pl, .php* and .exe are being renamed .txt to stop naughty
things (this'll probably change back later as the nice filenames are improved)

v0.94 23/01/09
        Help pages improved

v0.92 22/01/09
Submit button now disables on submit to prevent uploading twice

v0.9 21/01/09
7mb upload limit increased to 20mb

v0.85 21/01/09
        Nicer background image
Better support for popup window, less scrollbars
        Improved style and standards support

v0.8 19/01/09
        Initial Launch Version
So, having became frustrated with the annoying commercial upload services people on the other place were using (which were clunky, had files removed thanks to the idiocy of mmtv, and of most concern, explosed our eyes to breasts of the female nature) it was decided something must be done.

So as the current TVF Upload service (the old mrtoms system) had some limitations on file size and had a lack of true security, Metropol's main technology supplier hymagumba.com has been working with interSput Technologies to develop the all new *Metropol Upload Service*

Cunningly integrated into the Metropol user database, security and traceability of dodgyness is central to the new system. In addition you can upload as many files as you like with no limits on space, and files will never be deleted unless you want them to be.

As you'll see upon using the thing, you're given a profile where all your files are shown, but if you want to hide a file from that page, a simple click of the star will remove it from public listing, course it'll still be linkable via its URL but nobody need know it was you who uploaded it.

It's a work in progress and the current system is a beta, coming soon we'll have phpbb session integration, bigger files, automatic image resizing, nice urls and loads of other bits and bobs.

Think of this as our present to the wonders of TV Forum, so they can upload files of studios, MP3s of feem choons (but no library music) and other such telly delights, and all the while, not having to use those sites with the babs on show.

So lets get testing, lets get uploading, lets get fit and get dancing and lets make TVF a boobiedoo free zone (except for those caps of her off of Look North of course)

Very nice (from your description, haven't used it yet of course)... Also, this will act as a nice 'stepping-stone' to more posts, as people will sign up to upload, then be more inclined to reply to something interesting.

Right. NOW try it! I made a bit of a balls-up that indirectly made it deeply insecure so I made hyma pull the service until I figured out what I did! Sorry about that. But don't worry: IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

Now, go forth and UPLOAD!

unlimited atm but we have our beady eyes on the logs

btw there's another link in the footer just so you don't have to keep coming to this thread. Once it's a bit more established and we've done a few tweaks it'll be somewhere more prominent but Lee is demanding his £60,000 up front this time so give it a little bit of time.

But neither Hyma nor Sput have publically uploaded anything... what sort of confidence does that show!
