BBC News Technology section carried an interesting article about the iPod Touch being usable as a phone via Skype technology. Is there a mic built in to the iPod touch then?

I'm not sure about VOIP. Not that I've used it, but isn't the latency and drop-out a big problem?

You're wrong cd... er, Mark. It can handle Flash I'm fairly certain (at least the iPhone 3G and second gen iPod Touch) but it'd be like loading any weighty page would be, slow and clunky.

A pox on Flash I say.

No, you're not alone on this - it sometimes takes a few jabs to get things going. I had assumed this was a fairly common problem and have never looked if there is a remedy to it.

Ah, OK. With any luck they'll fix it when (if) it ever comes out of Beta. I would use the D-Pad to highlight the link, but even that doesn't work consistently. I've got a pretty good feel now for which web sites do best in Opera and which are better browsed in Pocket IE.

I seem to remember it involved a rather complicated arrangment involving new attachments, and Apple weren't keen on it because of the presence of the iPhone and so on.

That is SO pre september 2008. Everyone agrees, tim, and it's all fine now.

So smiles, and flowers and lollipops? That's actually quite convenient.

Now I know this is pointless but I am posting from my iPhone even though my laptop is just metres away. Yes I sold out to apple but I'm so glad I did. Wonderful. Right enough pointlessness now...

Sorry to drag this back up and slightly off topic, but didn't want to clutter up the board with a new topic on a similar subject...!

After Christmas, knowing I'm getting money from quite a few people (exciting huh), I'm looking at also joining the Apple revolution (!) and getting an iPod - am looking at the £150 mark so would you go for an iPod Classic or an iPod Touch which both seem to be around that price tag?

Would appreciate your thoughts - thank you!
