Grrr! I have to concur in part, and don't want to spoil Jimmy's ISON's thread! :ugeek:

oh i'm sure you didn't mean to, after all, its not as if you spoil any other part of the site is it.

btw, regards what was being discussed at the top of the page, its worth noting that about 40% of the moderation log in the admin panel reads "stuart deleted post in xxx thread at xx:xx"

i presume those are the ones that don't even make sense to him.

Well at least there's some recognition that my lovely tribute is being taken off topic.

And please, don't call me Jimmy because I really don't like it. It's very amusing to you, I'm sure. But newly created moderators tend to be drunk with power so who knows another mention of Jimmy could result in some "administration".
Good Lord!

If 40% of your moderation log actually contains messages I have deleted from this board then I've got keyboard skills worth a fortune on the open market!

I'd like to see this 40% list! :) I suspect it's no more realistic than the Daily Mail stats we so often ridicule!

apologies for the delay as i removed the IP addresses from my sample of log.

if you ignore the bit in the middle where i can't decide what to make this thread, that's about 35%

and before you try to be clever, me editing lorna's post was fixing a badly nested quote, i suspect gav's edit of your post was along the same lines

I can forgive you correcting Lorns' messages as having bad quote tags; even perhaps correcting some of Gav's original messages to me, but sneaking about doing edits to quotes on other posts isn't really fair is it?

I see the log, and it's interesting that most of it appears to be my 'editing' rather than 'posting' that is prominent, so your original claim about constant deleting was untrue.

To reply I click "PLEASERESPOND", copy it to Word, then cancel and close Metropol!

For the Hyma-stats that may count as a deleted response, but it's not to me! I go back later and post my response. As far as I'm concerned I've posted one comment.

Oh FFS. I feel like taking a pen and stabbing it in my eye.

Stuart*, you asked for Hymagumba to put up the log. He did so. Now that you're not happy with what it says, you want him to take it down. You cannot have it both ways. Forum logs generally don't capture everything. I suspect, for instance, the logs here don't show that you edited and virtually rewrote your latest post in this thread. It certainly can't read minds and record the fact that somebody might have been thinking to post a comment but chose not to. Nor should it attempt to do so.

If you are worried about having deleted posts recorded, I would advise you to think more carefully about what you're contributing before you hit the submit button. Beyond that, it would be deeply appreciated if we could all move on and talk about something that is at least remotely interesting.

no stu, a "deleted post" on that log is a post that has been submitted, and therefore committed to the site, but has then been deleted using the X icon on the post.

My edit was when I changed "and and all" to "any and all" (what I meant to say) from my own post and your subsequent quote.

You might also note - not that I am required to explain myself - that I closed your report about being called a cunt - because you were behaving like one. A cunt is as a cunt does, as granny used to say.

While I understand you may have mistaken the mode of sputs original post regarding his teacher, it was made clear enough in his follow up post that he was offended by your implication. The right thing to do at that point would have been to back down - possibly even apologise for your error. Instead you argued the point and told him he had no right to have a "moral high ground".

It all reads perfectly clearly to me - after a good night's sleep.

Anyway - enough.

Stu - if you feel the need to RTP a post, then go ahead; but a judgement will be made by Ison (not "Jimmy") or myself regarding the validity of that report based on what has been said in the thread.

Edits to posts do not require your approval or consent - and if you feel unable to deal with basic forum housekeeping tasks without accusing all and sundry of "sneaking around", then you should consider your membership carefully.

Lets have a better day, shall we?

Obviously not content with the first two edits of his last post in this thread, I note with interest that Stuart* seems to have edited it at least once more after I posted my response. I think it's been established before that that is particularly poor 'netiquette' - particularly where a comment is removed that somebody has referred to in a later reply. My comment above that forum software "certainly can't read minds and record the fact that somebody might have been thinking to post a comment but chose not to" referred to a statement (since edited out by Stuart*) which implied that the site logs recorded that somebody started to reply to a message but then opted not to actually post it. Moreover, it was suggested that this was equivalent to somebody posting a comment and choosing to delete it afterwards.
