Malpass' Christmas Sonnet

It's almost Christmas, and to celebrate, I've made this poem up. It's about Christmas, with as many BBC2 1991-2001 ident references as possible. By the way, a sonnet is a poem with 14 lines, the last two of which make a rhyming couplet. Right then, GCSE English lesson over, here goes (BTW, I hope I don't sound patronising there).

It's time for advent calendars - a sign of Christmas
Time for pulling the crackers by the warm fire
The season when we get decorations with fibre optics on, out
With a blanket of snow powder outside the garden
Or maybe, if we get enough, a layer of white silk
To keep warm we put the kettle on for tea, and watch the steam rise
We bring the dog so it stays warm, and the car's in the garage
Whilst the sharp blade of Dad's knife cuts the turkey, duck, or whatever
Family and friends come around, 'til we wave good night
Whilst the shiny snowglobes look like magnificent glass crystal balls
The mistletoe is a catalyst for kissing, love and romance
The kids have got the balloons out, happy days for all
So while we watch Channel 4 News with Jon Snow
Let's all make the Christmas spirit live on, the whole year through!

(Sorry, but I couldn't find of anything for Copper/Paper Cut-Out, Shadow, Paint, Diary and most of the post-'97 lot)

Hope you like it, and Merry Christmas to all!

Whereas your useless and incredibly mind-numbing "sonnet" astounded everyone else.

I don't believe it took time.

Or effort.

Are you getting the subtle idea that this might not be a suitable site for your whimsical ramblings?
