I do like that sentiment. I will fall asleep sniggering at that!

I don't think Gav does or knows what 'smug' is in any way, Nini! He's far too nice for that!

Quiet Stu.

Where's Grindon, I want to know if he ever did solve his problem.

Nothing like a good Mac vs Windows argument to get people going eh?

Seeing as my last response was nothing more than the cast of Strictly Come Dancing congratulating Gavin's post, I felt I should perhaps add my thoughts.

Sadly it adds nothing to the debate as I'm one of those who, of course, has been brought up on Windows and of course it's hard to change from anything you previously used at great length. Through various projects and work I HAVE used Mac's and a fair bit too, and like many others here I just found them awkward. OK they look nice and some of the things that the OS can do is very eye catching but I don't see anything beyond that.

I like Gavin had used Final Cut Pro on both systems and during my time using it - I lost three projects on the Mac version and none on the Windows version. That of course was a big clincher for me.

Finally as for Linux - before I became a "victim of the credit crunch" - the firm I worked for was looking to save as much money as possible in these testing times and indeed the idea of converting as many computers over to Linux did indeed come up. It's still being discussed but I think the problem is the amount of man hours it would take to not only set up and configure but also to give people a basic grounding on it would be too large. Even the occassional Windows user would know how to deal with the basic problems if their computer went bust at work but I feel that if it was a Linux one they'd just panic by default.

But certainly it got a lot of air time and could still be put in place for back room operations which only Administrators need know about.

I still love you all even if you dislike my choice of OS.

Except you cdd, you're wrong.

I'm quite interested too, but I don't think we've a hope of finding out now yet another thread's been hijacked by bloomin' Plymouth's boring asides.

Why should I, Nini?

*throws chew-stick with tinsel tassle* (as festive treat) ;)
(and in answer to Hyma's deleted post at 22:13, the tinsel would indeed have been edible, just like Oscar's Advent calendar contains 'doggy chocolate' and not the human version which is potentially poisonous to him)

That and a somewhat biased slanging match which I think I created misguidedly back on the first page with my glib Borg=Windows quip.

Heaven forsake me (or rather Gav, he started throwing insults first) for bringing up this dumb topic ála "who is the better captain, Picard or Kirk?"

Hey ho, looks like just another annoyance I'll have to live with in the Kingdom of Macs.

But thanks for the help anyway!
Sorry to hear that Mark! Windows can certainly suffer from its fair share of problems but there always seems to be a solution out there somewhere. Even if it's not that logical. But this one seems to have stumped you. Strange.
