This is the worrying response now, aside from the attacks on these people: the danger is the supporters of BNP will be driven underground and nobody will know what they are up to.

As a legal organisation at least perhaps the security services knew what they were doing.

I believe you've missed out the "Malp" out of of "Malpass". Easy mistake to make, though.

This is exactly what I warned would end up happening. People taking the law into their own hands to get these BNP (or in some cases ex-BNP) members themselves. It can't help anyone, as innocents may get attacked in the crossfire, so to speak. Mistakes will be made, resulting in people with similar names to those on the list also being at risk. Ditto the families of the BNP members. They may also be targeted.

For the record, it was ShowbizGuru, earlier on in the thread.

To be honest, I have to say I am rather surprised by your comment, Alexia, as I have found myself agreeing with your points in this article 100%, almost as if we think the same things (on this article, of course).

People have a right to protect their personal information. We cannot deny that the right of BNP members in that respect has been breached.

Absolute rubbish, privacy is NOT, repeat NOT, a right. You have the choice to get into this thing and you have to bear the consequences when they blow up in your face.

What two faced bastards to play the privacy card when they've been secretly supporting such views, they will get what they deserve and without threatening them I say I would not miss them if they were murdered.

If you want privacy, get it for yourself, DO NOT join parties and then say you just wanted it as your own dirty little secret!

I am curious - what rights do you believe exist, if any at all? If I set up a bank account, should I not have a reasonable expectation that the bank will not publicly broadcast my details? I would argue privacy is something that is quite fundamental to many of the decisions we make, and for that reason is generally preserved as a right in law.
