The old bit rate argument ...
Have the system operators stuffed so much content into their multiplexes and transponders so that the benefits of digital television are being lost in the pixellated content being provided?
Would some form of technical quality test seem appropriate in the mix of legislation and/or regulation?

How timely.
Last night I picked up (quite literally, folks) a widescreen behemoth of a TV, which is currently sun tanning me in cathode rays.
But I'm not impressed now that the artefacts of DCAB are the size of my fist.

Market forces vs technical snobbery, isn't it? Up to 10 million people will have viewed the (occasional) lego fest that is ITV1 on DSAT and haven't noticed, so standards would have to drop to almost TV Ark levels for a regulator to care.
