Seeing as we're in a credit crunch and all that i was thinking about bartering with all major stores when doing my Christmas shopping this year.
Everything i buy in every major high street store i'm going to ask if they'll sell it to me at the Janury sales prices. That would be roughly 50% off. So the money i save at Christmas means more for me to spend in the sales.
I don't hold out much hope for success but it's worth a try.

"How much for cash" might get you something off. I've done it many times. 50% is pushing it, though.

I'd be very surprised if many retailers don't start their sales in December. The Retail Price Index is likely to show negative growth from early '09.

That normally works for me with small independant businesses not major retailers.
Yeah 50% is pushing it, i'd happily settle for 15% off but they don't know that yet.

I've tried doing it early before but it takes all the fun out of Christmas shopping. There's nothing i love more than moaning about the queues, traffic, rudeness and aching joints ( believe me little ones, when you reach 30+ you get aches and pains that get worser 'n' worser). If i got it all done early i'd have nothing to whinge about.
