Actually, you might be pleasantly surprised. I don't have that stereotypical Aussie accent, largely because I wasn't born here. Still, I'll leave you to make your own conclusions about how I sound. I intend to post a recording at some stage soon - just a bit busy with exams at the moment.

New Zealand. Though I should say I don't have much in the way of a Kiwi accent either.

ICH, now I've been reminded of the "Where the bloody hell are you?" Australian tourist board ads. Coincidentally, I went to Australia during the run of that ad campaign, meaning I probably gave the mistaken impression it was successful!

...wrong thread much?

They've spent another packet of money on ads which hopefully won't be as universally hated overseas.

The accent Hyma's referring to is the broad Australian one which is becoming less popular as people try to distance themselves from that sort of stereotype. Most people speak the 'general' accent which is still quite identifiable but nowhere near as irritating. Something like in here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kz4m3wV_YA

OK, so I'm taking what I consider a pretty big and scary step here. In a world first, excluuuusive to Metropol, I can present a video clip of myself talking. Just as they say in the Mocks forum over at TVF: please be kind, it's my first effort.

You can access the clip here.

Apologies that the sound trails off when I sit down - you might have to turn the volume up a bit when you're listening. I would have re-recorded, but one of my colleagues came in shortly after I filmed that, and it's a bit embarrassing making a video clip with an audience present.

Yay!

Your accent is so close to the lovely Jen in my office its spooky.

By the way I would be inclined to eat those chocolate bunnies.

Good on you for giving us such a great clip.

Great clip. Not sure how I expected your voice to sound, Nick, but I don't think it was like that. Very nice though.
