I agree with the previous post, Halifax should've paid Virgin Media as it's a direct debit mandate. If you DIDN'T have the money in your account, it's a different matter, but Gavin, you probably did have!
Ask Halifax to explain why, and say that you're not happy about it and would like something as a "gesture of goodwill". They should offer around £50.
Also, next time you make a complaint to Virgin Media, go for a free upgrade to the V+ box. A mate of mine did, and got not one, but two for some odd reason. Lucky though as the first one died on the second day!
Virgin Media customer service, if you can call it that, is terrible at the best of times, but if you get a nice woman called Donna (yes, no jokes please), she'll give you exactly what you want.
VirginMedia - your experiences
I got a nice deal on retentions recently but made a point of avoiding the free V+ for a very simple reason. I currently have the samsung box, which I fought long and hard to get. Downgrading back to a scientific atlanta box simply to be able to record shows that are often on on-demand anyhow wasn't worth the performance hit.

You're wrong, you've been sold as resold as many times as me, maybe less by one.cdd wrote:VidéoTron --> Cable&Wireless --> ntl --> Virgin Media --> ?
I think I have been sold and resold more times than any other person in History.
That's a decent point, haven't heard much which is good about that box... but HD?? Alright, I'm missing nothing by not having a HD capable box by not having a HD screen to watch it and I don't really require the recording ability already having the TiVo so...Hymagumba wrote:I got a nice deal on retentions recently but made a point of avoiding the free V+ for a very simple reason. Faster internet, yes, can never have too much bandwidth.

My deal seems to have come to a halt, so I'll be downgrading.Sput wrote:and TSK at them verbally promising me 12 months of reduced price and then giving me 6 months and putting the price up to full today.
That's quite lucky for me, in the circumstances.Hymagumba wrote:worth noting that 2mb has vanished from virgin's new customer page. 10mb is now the baseline it would appear.

On re-reading the last page, my deal was due to lapse, but we agreed a price for 12 months, according to, er... me.
I suppose I had better ring them up.
