I spotted the resemblance the first time I saw her on TV. I still think she comes across as more 'Anne Robinson' like though.
It's the fact she's a gun-toting Republican with an unmarried pregnant daughter that made the connection for me, rather than looks.

I was thinking more Stiffler's Mom myself.

Whoever eventually gets in, it's nice to see a country that demands that its future leader should face an arduous selection process within their own party, followed by a massive campaign in which they have to spend months trying to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.

It couldn't be any more different to the way Brown sneaked in through the back door.

Would that be the back door that everyone knew he was going to go through when they re-elected Blair the year or so before, or the back door he sneaked through when no-one else in the party wanted to contest his move to the leadership, despite having the option?

Eh?

How exactly was she chosen by the party? She was chosen by McCain, who had only met her a handful of times before deciding she'd make a great Vice President. I've heard it said that any McDonalds employee goes through a far more rigourous selection procedure than she did.

Her selection was a box ticking exercise.

Oh don't worry about the sense of the first part, his post is clearly all about the second part despite it making no more sense.

She frightens me.

I can't help but look at the potential candidates in terms of how bad they will be for the world, as opposed to how good they might be for America.

The thought of a "creationist" VP gives me the absolute shudders.

Here's an article you should read about her from Time Magazine online:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/artic ... 18,00.html
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.
Oh and (according to the same article) her husband's stepmother has said over the weekend that she's not sure who she'll vote for yet.

Which should tell us a lot really.

In that vein, he's not a man without...Secrets and I apologise for the adverts. This is probably the better of the two.
