Greg James and Huw Edwards? Will sound awkward.
Half hour Newsbeat? 15 minutes is fine.
Fearne in the evening? No way.
Less Newsbeat in the Breakfast show? Bad idea I think.

Greg and Huw are worth a punt at least for an experimentJovis wrote:Greg James and Huw Edwards? Will sound awkward.

There is effectively an half an hour Newsbeat with entertainment news at 6.30 so why not put them together?
Suggested Fearne for the afternoon (Edith) slot because you move more towards the mainstream as you progress through the day 10am til 7pm, so she might work (no-matter how annoying i find her)
As for breakfast in the morning, theres too much, its near guaranteed to be late, schedualing it at convinent times (thats easy to remember) would help the listener and also help Moyles stick to timing.
My feelings are the only problem is Edith, show just has died since Colin left to pastures new, to be honest they will probably put Annie Mac/Sara Cox/ Kelly Osbourne (heavens forbid) in that timeslot, but id go for the unexpected, id feel youd have Jo and Steve at 10 at one extreme of the musical spectrum, then Greg and Huw finding a good balance between mainstream and new music and then Scott being mainstream again. Do you understand my method of thought here Jovis?

I see what you're doing, but I don't think there's any need.
Fearne and Reggie are both TV presenters, but don't transfer well to radio.
Ents news at 6.30 lasts for a few minutes, not 15, so putting them together won't work - I don't like the half an hour idea anyway - would work for specials, but not every day.
Putting specialist with daytime won't work IMO (with the exception of Lammo and Whiley which wouldn't work anyway IMO because he has a drivetime show on 6Music weekdays so would probably be reluctant to do that too). So Greg and Huw wouldn't mix well I think - they're just too different in style, it would sound awkward. Like those shows they do at events like the Big Weekend.
News at breakfast - yes, Chris is late sometimes, but only by a few minutes. They are scheduled at convenient times - in fact, with your way it's less convenient. It's important to have regular news at that time.
I do agree that Edith could do with replacing, but she's popular with management I believe so would probably never happen.

In hindsight, youre right.
Think thats true, but do we see Edith bleed on about how many listeners she has lost? I find no interest in tuning into her show, and i'm sure plenty of other are in the same situation that i am in. Sweetheart of the management she may be, but the souls gone in that show.Jovis wrote: I do agree that Edith could do with replacing, but she's popular with management I believe so would probably never happen.

Its now just using James King as a crutch to limp toward the next AMAZING interview with some hollywood start no one gives a fish about. Reinvent or die is my message, if dead please return Edith to ITV2 where she now belongs.

That could be amusing, but the original suggestion of Huw Stephens might be considerably betterJovis wrote:Greg James and Huw Edwards? Will sound awkward.

I would absolutely love to hear Zane Lowe in the afternoon slot, I think he's edgy-but-not-too-obscure to carry it off. He'd probably work well with Edith too, only problem is I'm pretty sure he loves what he does already.
Vernon would be ace as a weekday regular but I'd guess he has too many TV commitments (don't forget his golden handcuffs deal with ITV, I imagine they only allow him to do so much on Radio 1).

I don't know what I can blame that mistake on, so perhaps I'll just pretend I was watching a recording of the Ten O'Clock News from the night before whilst typing.Steve in Pudsey wrote:That could be amusing, but the original suggestion of Huw Stephens might be considerably betterJovis wrote:Greg James and Huw Edwards? Massive shake-up happening at Radio 1 from September.
First Dick+Dom leave, with Edith Bowman taking their slot for September and October, then moving back to weekday Afternoons in November.
Also in September, Nick Grimshaw moves to Weekend Breakfast, with Nihal moving to Weekend Afternoons.
Finally in September, Sarah Coxs returns from maternity leave, with Jo Whiley going on leave. Then in the new year Cox moves to Sunday Mornings.
