The trouble is the whole thing is pretty much taken out of your hands, isn't it? I mean, control rests with the person who decides to 'Steal'. It doesn't matter at all what you pick once the other person has chosen to steal.

But the benefits of stealing greatly outweigh those of splitting.

So the logical choice is to steal.

Now, if one person had the chance to force the other player to swap their choice... that would make the game a lot more fun, wouldn't it?

I really must watch this whole show one day to try and understand it, I've been bits and bobs but find it quite baffling.

I've grasped the concept of the game now. I lost interest for several weeks after Gav didn't make it to the final 2.
It's a game of trust and luck. It's easy teatime viewing but my motto is trust no one, so i'd have to steal after convincing the other contestant i'm 100% trustworthy. I'd rather go away with all or nothing.

Och, don't do that. It was a long enough show to be in, never mind watch. I've chopped entire chunks of waffle out of the youtube clips as it went on forever.

What do the "Killer" balls actaully do apart from not contribute cash? The Wikipedia article doesn't deign to explain this. (This is a problem with Wikipedia, it's written by people who don't assume you know nothing).

I'll let someone else say it...
Wiki wrote:The two remaining players' golden balls are again put back into the ball machine and one more Killer ball is added, leaving 11 golden balls in play. The two players sit at a desk with the 11 golden balls between them. In turn, starting with the player who brought the most money into the final, the players pick a golden ball to "bin" (eliminate from the game) and pick a golden ball to "win" (add to the jackpot). If a Killer ball is picked to be won, then the accumulative value of the jackpot is divided by 10. For example, if the jackpot stands at £10,000 and a Killer ball is chosen to go into the Golden Five, the jackpot is reduced to £1,000. Further amounts of cash added are not affected, unless another Killer ball is "won". This process is repeated five times and the last remaining golden ball is binned.

The pool of balls which go through to the final round include "killers". The killer balls will reduce the jackpot by a factor of 10 to any monies accumulated before one is drawn.

i.e.

Killer + Killer + £75K + £100 + £50 = £75,150 Jackpot

however

Killer + £75K + Killer + £100 + £50 = £7,650 Jackpot

or worse

£75K + £100 + £50 + Killer + Killer = £751.50 Jackpot

Think of a killer as a "divide by 10". If you choose them first, they don't harm the jackpot (although reduce the amount of cash balls in the draw). If you choose them last you're fucked.

Yes - its horribly complex. Imagine having to play the game without ever having seen it on TV.
