I've been a loyal user of Gmail almost since it started. When they brought the anti-spam filter in, it's done a stirling job of keep my inbox free of shit. Even though my email addy seems to be on every spam list under the sun, I get no business proposals to look after a huge sum of money and keep half of it, no offers of penis enlargment, opportunities to buy Viagra, free prostitutes, knock down price Thai brides or anything else.
Several hundred (!) spam messages simply built up, and then after 30 days the old ones fall off the end of the spam folder...or go sooner if I'm in the mood to specifically delete them.
That is until this week, there seems to be a new spam-bot which Gmail doesn't have filtered, now I'm getting 1 or 2 items a day making it into my Inbox. I'm reporting all the items as spam, but obviously it will take a while for gmail to tie this one down.
Anyone else experiencing the same thing? It's come as a bit of a shock - Gmail's spam filter until now has been so unfailingly flawless that I'm outraged at a single piece of crap making it through!
Gmail spam filter
Simple issue and probably one which is a bit of an oversight, the very spam Gmail doesn't filter happens to be that coming from other Gmail accounts. Next time you get one, see if it's coming from gmail.com, very few which aren't will make it to your inbox but most will still end up in Spam as usual.
