A bit of a crafty one, but as I know there are a few Firefox users here. Has anyone had problems viewing Windows Media Video in Firefox 3?

I am trying to view video at the Cambridge Evening News website, but on this article the error: To view this video you will need to use Internet Explorer, or download a plug-in for your browser which is capable of displaying Windows Media Video files.

I am at a little lose though because in a previous release of Firefox 3 I'm sure I had it working - and I believe it was on this site.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

That is what I had previously installed. I tried again, using the repair facility.

When I go to aboutplugins it appears: Microsoft® Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin

Uninstall firefox, uninstall the plugin, delete your profile from %appdata%, reinstall firefox, reinstall the plugin maybe?

Hmm, I uninstalled Firefox and ticked the box to say remove customisation etc and the plugin remained. So uninstalled that, after reinstalling Firefox and it still failed.

I give up for now. Will give it another ago some other time. I have car issues to worry about first.

There's a decent little add-on for Firefox called IE Tab. Basically you click on the Firefox logo and it renders the current page (and any future pages unless changed back) to IE.

Good for Microsoft/Windows Update seeing as it doesn't support Firefox (AFAIK). I think you can put specific addresses in so it automatically changes to IE when visited too.

Sadly no, that would probably be easier to cope with. It failed it's MOT due to the "offside front constant velocity joint gaiter insecurely mounted to its housing" - whatever that means. Unfortunately I think my usual mechanic is on his holiday so looks like I might end up getting fleeced

I stopped using that add on ages ago after an official Mozilla page (forget which) identified it as being a huge source memory leaks.
