Pricing details (weekdays)
INBOUND
7 – 9.30 am, Morning peak inbound:
£2 to cross Outer Ring, £1 to cross Intermediate Ring
OUTBOUND
4 – 6.30 pm, Evening peak outbound:
£1 to cross Intermediate Ring, £1 to cross Outer Ring
This is a more sensible approach than London - mainly because I am not affected - I travel out to Wigan in the morning so don't get charged and again am going the other way so no charge for me - YEA!

I wonder what's going to happen with the £2.8bn of investment -wonder if they could do a underground system for that. There was a Metrolink station under the Arndale centre before the redevelopment.

Wasn't the idea of an underground looked at years ago but they found the place was littered with obscacles underground like the big secret underground bunkers and prototype nuclear power station under the university?

It's probably significant that the two of you in Manchester have already posted.

The rest of us, mainly in the south of England, Scotland and Wales probably don't care an awful lot, as Manchester just doesn't seem like the place anyone from outside would want to regularly visit.

Its just a matter of time before it hits Wiltshire....
When my partner worked for Durham University - they were involved in the initial planning of introducing a congestion charge there... I seem to remember they even got as far as having a tender ready to go out

Pah, look. Typical media attitude there. Leaving out Northern Ireland. FFS.

I have an admission to make. I have never been to Manchester. I know.

I am going to fix that the week after next with a very brief visit. I will then be in a better position to judge whether or not it is a place I might want to regularly visit.

Any place that has a former game show host reading the evening news has got to be worthy of investigation.

Oh I love Burnsey too. Liverpool gets him too but it's more obviously shit than Manchester!
