It makes the journeys go alot quicker. Yesterday on the tube on the way back from Oxford Street I had a luvely conversation with a gorgeous young man who had me giggling like a school girl. I got some very wierd looks.

It tends to work best on the tube. You have the intimacy factor.

Does anybody else do this? Or am I a dirty whore?

Flirting - what's that. Wouldn't know where to start, and definately wouldn't spot anyone flirting with me.

You need to be a little bit careful with this flirting lark.

Especially if the public transport in question is warmer than average, your nether garments are a little less roomy than necessary and the flirtee's initials happen to be AA.

I used to try and flirt with ladies who got my train to college all the time without much success!

I would agree with the OP though, even unsuccessful flirting makes the journey go quicker. ;)

BTW this is my first ever post, after lurking for sometime and being harangued by Sput into actually writing something. You never know, I might do it again soon.

Sir, you are definitely most welcome, he says, in a slightly sinister manner.

YAY. Like flirting on a train, even unsuccessful posting makes the metropol experience go all the faster, not that your post is even vaguely unsuccessful.

That is all.

Before I moved to my own place the night bus from the city to the family home took about 45 minutes.

One such journey home, a young guy got off the bus as I did and walked to the end of my street alongside me before asking if there was a place he and I could go for a drink. He said we had met in the pub in town earlier.

I was a bit sloshed and couldn't remember this meeting. Apparently I had asked him what advertisement I had seen his face in, as "whatever it was selling" I would, "buy it".

I think that sounds a bit lame myself, but he thought this was the nicest thing he'd ever been told.

His name was Charles. I called him Chick. He looked like David Beckham. Hand on heart he did.

We dated for a summer until he left me for a barman called Cairn (which wasn't even his real name).

Sigh.

The Missed Connections section of the Gumtree site is always a good way to pass a few minutes. Have I had such an impression on someone that they are actively in pursuit of me, harnessing the medium of the world wide web to make contact?

The answer is no.

But a friend of mine did make a post after taking a fancy to an attractive female on the bus. She did reply to his post. And they remain good friends.

So who know's where a bit of PTF could lead...
