Surely Happy Shopper was a trade name of Nurdin & Peacock, the wholesalers who merged with Bookers in about 1998 or 1999, but were, effectively, taken over by them. A bit like the Granada and Carlton "merger".

A very few catering products retained the Happy Shopper brand name, but everything else got swallowed up by old Bookers brand names.

Well you tell me - you are the scientist. What does physics say the correlation between Happy Shoppers and time is? I know my chemistry says that that their food is pigswill.

@Nick - If what you say is true (and I don't claim to know much about Happy Shoppers) then it would appear the signage on the front of both of the stores round here is in fact a good few years past its sell by.

Don't be silly! If it's anything it's anticorrelated with time: namely, the number of happy shoppers is inversely proportional to the amount of time since about 1992.

Tsk Nick, it's no fewer characters than saying "Nick:" so can't really count as text speak.

Yes, but somebody had to do it.

You're still being far too nice to these newcomers.

We need to keep them in their place, you know.

like me,

this is a marketing ploy to get there sales back, these companies for unknown reason sit on bebo and myspace and facebook looking at peoples posts about how good stuff was back in the 1980's, yet its the same stuff but in a different package. The name changes happened to cut cost, I;m still waiting for JIF to come back,

also I'm hopeful that just like Wisper, galaxy counters may appear once more

if you drink JIF it might explain a lot about you barcode.

@Nick... (sorry) the students union up here is a premier branded store which I believe is a booker brand. It sells all sorts of Happy Shopper goods such as cleaning products, toilet rolls and some foodstuffs so it doesn't appear to be a dead brand.
