Well it finally appears that Mars is maybe taking a u-turn in their branding of Snickers and Starbust, it appears that Marathon will reappear as will Opal Fruits, although Opal Fruits will only be a three month experiment, if proved successful it will be carried on.

I've always been brought up with Snickers being Snickers rather than Marathon, but I never really saw the point of changing Opal Fruits to Starburst.
Goodbye Snickers and Starburst...?
Did you check the 'Best Before Date' ? It was probably 1998 :roll:Sput wrote:That reminds me: did Kelloggs not make a big hooha a few years back about foil packing their cornflakes? I got some the other day and it was just the old normal plastic bag in the box.

For those prone to outbreaks of Daily Mail hate, here's an alternate link BrandRepublic. Also, isn't this another attempt by those who were born in the late 70's to mid 80s to get back things of their childhood back into the mainstream? Damn nostalgia junkies, that there is what caused the London 2012 logo yknow.
No. It's an attempt by the marketing people to GET those who were born in the late 70s to mid 80s to buy things that remind them of their childhood by changing the name back.Nini wrote: isn't this another attempt by those who were born in the late 70's to mid 80s to get back things of their childhood back into the mainstream? Indeed so, but the novelty wares off after a while, you probably stop buying the product for the reason you stopped buying it in the first place. Since Wispa came back I bought it only once and frankly I remembered how mediocre they were, hardly the best chocolate bar ever.Sput wrote:No. It's an attempt by the marketing people to GET those who were born in the late 70s to mid 80s to buy things that remind them of their childhood by changing the name back.

No, you're quite right. It was obviously noted that foil is of little use in keeping something fresh once it has been opened. Foil bags didn't last long.Sput wrote:That reminds me: did Kelloggs not make a big hooha a few years back about foil packing their cornflakes? Also, Cadbury's large chocolate bars were in foil wrappers until recently but have now gone to a metallic looking plastic wrapper.
Don't the almost infinitely complex K-Lock boxes still exist? Haven't brought any cornflakes in some time and last time I did I never got to do it right. Replacing the tried and true method of paper around foil for foil-lined plastic packaging never rubbed me the right way.Gavin Scott wrote:It was obviously noted that foil is of little use in keeping something fresh once it has been opened. Figured both were pretty equal in banality really.Alexia wrote:Philistine.nwtv2003 wrote:Wispa...mediocre...hardly the best
Besides, everyone with an ounce of sense knew the Aero was the superior choice in the bubbly choc department.
