This thread isn't about any particular media outlet of course, as that may be libelous, but perhaps it's worth debating: considering some of the dissatisfaction some Metropollers have (including myself) with ridiculously misleading headlines on all forms of news media. Tonight, for example:
How Mark Speight's body was undiscovered for six days - just two floors above a police office
Of course it wasn't the responsibility of the police to search the roof of the building they had an office in; but it's necessary to blame them anyway for inefficiency.
Shannon Matthews' mum is a violent foul-mouthed chain-smoking boozy slob
Hearsay, based on the 'evidence' from someone they just paid!
Fury in Bridget Jones village as vicar refuses to conduct weddings for children who have moved away
"Such are the photogenic qualities of Shere, near Guildford, that it was used for a scene in Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason" A scene, a single scene. The most tenuous link I've yet seen!
Perhaps today isn't the best example (yet), but I regularly trawl through the media and snigger at some of these articles. May I suggest the ZIMBABWE HERALD (http://www.herald.co.zw) if you want a really good laugh!
