For those who want the 'not quite ready for launching as a regular version' version of Firefox 3, with some nice improvements on Firefox 2 (speed, memory and little things like the address bar for instance), the Beta 4 version of Firefox 3 can be downloaded from:
https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
Release notes: https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3 ... easenotes/
It's likely there will be a 5th beta before the full release version arrives.
Firefox 3 beta 4 is out
I would advise against using this, on account of the fix for MY bug not going in until beta 5, along with a pile of other minor things which will fab up the browser.
Platform wise, Firefox 3 is pretty amazing, its so much faster than 2 and I do love the way they've changed the address bar so that it searches you're history and bookmarks for page titles and partial URLs rather than just the start of typed URLs. Minor things really but the main change with FF3 is hidden, the complete change to the internal graphics systems.
Now if only they could make it print as good as IE7 it would be perfect.

And page zooming, which Fx 3 b2 didn't support very well (I haven't tried subsequent betas...)Hymagumba wrote:if only they could make it print as good as IE7 it would be perfect.
I must say I find IE7 and Firefox more or less equal now. They both have tabbed browsing which is all that really matters to me. I'm able to switch between the two without noticing any real difference which I couldn't do with IE6 which is just bleagh.
page zooming is now similar to IE's full page zoom
I do, the lag on opening a new tab in IE7 is a particular annoyance when I have to use it in Uni. It's better than IE6, miles miles better, but still shit.cdd wrote:I must say I find IE7 and Firefox more or less equal now.

Yeah, that tab lag is enough to render it near-useless. Especially that it even spends a couple of seconds 'Connecting' just to load aboutTabs :/Hymagumba wrote:page zooming is now similar to IE's full page zoom

it's moved to the bookmarks bar on account of it now being classed as a glorified bookmark. Perhaps if you spent less time being an idiot you'd have noticed this, but I'm sure that you have more important things to be doing, like coming up with stupid suggestions for the site in your sig, that will be ignored, because its a stupid idea, and because you're an idiot.Trilight wrote:Where the hell is the home button?
How do you go home?
Why the hell are you even here anyhow? All you do is post shit and annoy people, why don't you just leave?

Absolutely.Hymagumba wrote:the lag on opening a new tab in IE7 is a particular annoyance when I have to use it in Uni.
It makes much more sense to me that a new tab opened is at the end of the row of tabs so you can find it easily, rather than jammed in next your current tab.
