It's with great shame that I confess, despite all the other places in our fine land I have visited, I have never been to Liverpool. However, this is to change this weekend, when I go to visit an old chum.
Apart from the obvious shinanigans, has anyone got any good recommendations of must-sees, and must-dos?
Liverpool
I applied for John Moores University back in the day, and on my visit wasn't too enamoured with its town centre (it's basically the same as any inner-city town centre, albeit with extra doses of shell-suits). Must visits must be the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield, the Albert Dock (the This Morning map of the UK is still floating there), and there's a Titanic and of course, Beatles exhibition you can go to.
Of course it's now 6 years since I've been there, so you may find a few more things with this whole capital of culture malarky.

Yes I went to the Albert Docks, looked at the Liver Buildings then.. er.. left.
I would have taken the #ferry 'cross the Mersey# - but the water looked like it had jobbies in it.

I was at John Moores University until 2000 and I can honestly say Liverpool is the friendliest city I have lived in or visited!
That said, I can't really be of much use to Rod as I've only been back twice since 2000 and they were both day time visits. The city has changed and is continuing to change beyond recognition since then - I'd probably struggle to find my way around now.

Absolutely hate the place. It's full of self-pitying morons who think it is something special.
It was still there in 2003, but they removed it not too long after. Anyway about Liverpool, the Albert Dock is worth a visit, as is walking past the Liver buildings. The shops are quite good too although at the moment they're doing alot of it up, basically you still cannot walk down Paradise Street, but it's near completion AIUI. It's also worth a look at St John's beacon, the big building with 'Radio City 96.7' at the top of it, you don't realise how big it is until you're there.
