You're not having trouble with temporary disconnections and re-training are you Nate? If so, have you recently upgraded to "as fast as it will go, possibly 8Mb" and are you still on your old USB modem thing?

I upgraded, to 8Mb but they forgot to tell me that those USB jobbys are okay at 512k and 1Mb, they just about work at 2Mb, but are phuquing useless at anything over 4Mb and keep disconnecting to do a re-train, even after the first week, when you expect that sort of thing to happen.

I filed the USB jobby in the bin and invested in a posh beasty from Cisco that's got the ADSL modem, a router and a data switch (wired, not wireless) all in the same box.

No troubles at all since then. It says I'm running at 7Mb, but when I test it, it shows anywhere between 5Mb and 6.5Mb. Not bad considering the telephone exchange might as well be in the next county.

No, I think I got broadband back in the Wanadoo days, so it came with the broadband router then (this is about '03/'04 ish i think) and when we bought our new PC in late '06 we bought a wireless router with it, but it's not with the correct/allowed or whatever settings I think since it's not an Orange router and it's not supported.

I'm not sure, but think it's because I've seen adverts that have lured me into cheaper prices.

Weren't they voted worst ISP in the UK anyway?

It's breathtakingly fast when downloading torrents such as South Park episodes (which are only 30Mb each given the limited detail in them). Often an episode has arrived by the time I've read the synopsis.

Mr Twig.net? I often find an episode is downloaded in 1 sandwich half (a technical term for all scientists who are greedy) during my lunch. That's on work's (normally crowded) 8meg line.

It's the change in my main Email (which I have had since 1997) which puts me off changing from AOL. I have moved as much as I can to 'msn.com' which can be universal.

I am tied to having a BT landline-provided service though because despite my home being only 11 years old I am not cabled - Virgin won't cable an unadopted road. Even Sky won't provide the full service because of the limitations of the exchange owing to their inability to perform local-loop-unbundling here. I'm stuck with AOL for the time being :roll:

EDIT: Will any other ISP's be doing it? Our phone is with TalkTalk (line rental with BT), internet with Orange, and freeview television, so I don't think you could really get Sky.

I think you're able to get ADSL2+ as long as you have a BT line, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

My dad's mate who works at Virgin said In 18 months you can get 50mbps with Virgin Media.

Well I ran an Upload/Downlaod Speed check on my current 20Mbps speed and upload is 120kbps slower than download.

This is How hard it is to set up my BB : I have to plug my 25 Metre Ethernet cable into my Server ,plug a 7 metre ethernet cable into my WiFi access point and then configure each PC diferently making sure not to set dynamic IP addresses and not to delete anything.
