How old are the satelite shots from google earth? I found my house but it had my old car in the drive so i guess its a few years old. Do they update the aerial pics on a five year + cycle or something. Wouldn't it be cool if you could see whats happening in your street in real time, cctv images live via satellite to your pootah. It'd beat twitching the curtains and gettting the binoculars and night vision goggles out.
Now that my friends is called Neighbourhood watch. I'm not nosy just inquisitive.
google earth
MS Live Earth has higher res imagery of this area, though the user interface is rubbish as it frequently tells you that "no birds eye images" are available when in fact they are. I can only get back to a the image of my house by clicking on the map about a mile awaym then navigating from there on the birds eye images. If I click close to my house directly it doesn't work.

Wow, what scope. Why is it that in the big places like America you can zoom right down to chewing gum wrapper on the floor, but in my quaint little town in Wales the clearest image of my house I can get is 2 pixels next to eachother

Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.
But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Because you live in the "back of beyond" in Wales (a bit like Dundee, but not so far off the civilised map).Ronnie Rowlands wrote:Wow, what scope. I can see my car oustide my house on GE, but also in the car park of where I worked up until 2 years ago. My Sister's new home has just appeared on GoogleEarth, but it's actually been there for two years. I would think remote areas are updated less often than heavily populated ones.

Dundee was updated the other day, the new uni halls are now actually built on the map although it would appear (going by roadworks, other building sites, and the position of my car) that its been taken in around Feb or March this year. An interesting point is Mr Hyma, who is about a mile away, still has the garden shed we demolished before this, so either our memories are wrong or they've only updated the city centre.

The Google shots of our part of Devizes are definitely over four years old. The roof window hasn't been installed in the picture of Harvey Towers, yet that was done prior to our moving in in the middle of 2003.
They do tend to merge newer pictures with old, however, as there are parts of Wiltshire where I can place one street as prior to 2003, yet the next street over is definitely 2007.
