I am not a football fan, but there seems to be a suggestion that the UK (ie the 4 home nations) produce a united football team for the 2012 Olympics.

I have always understood that England, Scotland and Wales compete in the Olympics as "Great Britain" (hence being called Team GB for sponsorship purposes). Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain, and normally compete jointly as a team with the Republic of Ireland.

Has the person suggesting this not even read up on what constitutes the United Kingdom?

The Olympic Games has a British team.

The UK has individual national teams, who compete in the World Cup and the European Nations cup. If the home nation teams converged to make one British team for the olympics, they wouldn't be able to have individual national teams for the above competitions, and the sponsors wouldn't be happy about this, that's for sure. In situations like this, think of money and profit, and not common sense
Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.

But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.
