iPods were introduced in October 2001. However, the word "ipod" did not become a registered trademark of Apple until 2005, having been assigned to a series of internet access phone kiosks since 2000.
If anyone's interested what the first iPod looked like, voila.

Hitler was a vegetarian and enjoyed urolagnia.

That's probably misleading. In 1974 the average petrol station probably had 2 or 3 pumps. These says many of the Megastores have integral petrol stations with 20-30 pumps. Chances are the actual number of petrol pumps has increased over the intervening 34 years.rdobbie wrote:In 1974 there were 74,000 petrol stations in the UK. Today there are less than 9,500 - the lowest level since 1912.
Nevertheless, it's an interesting fact and represents a significant change. It's not often these days that you come across a small independent petrol station.

What happened to all the petrol stations then, given that the amount of cars on the roads has increased massively in that time, hence there'd be enough of a market to keep them all afloat.

I think there are nearly as many as there are small, independent ITV companies.StuartPlymouth wrote:It's not often these days that you come across a small independent petrol station.

You lucky bugger!
Round here, unleaded's gone to 99.9p a litre, yesterday, thanks to Mr Phuquing Brown, and deisel's gone to 102.9p.
That's at the major chains; I hate to think what an independent would charge, if I could find one.
