Muslims will still be buying food during Ramadan - obviously they don't fast for the entire month. It would be self-destructive for any religion to attempt to starve half it's flock to death each year. The fasting takes place between sunrise and sunset. During the rest of the time presumably they eat more to make up for the missing lunch.

Would it be an insult to Safeway if I attempted to be the first customer at Dundee's branch in the vain hope they'd give me a prize / free shopping?

If you want free shopping try ordering through Tesco Online. I always end up with something I wasn't charged for which was presumably part of someone else's shopping in the same delivery van. I'm not the only person I know to get this perk!

Even the thought of that sends an unwelcome shudder down my spine. An approaching perma-tanned Mr Winton would sent me and my trolley dashing to the door (grabbing items from shelves on the way of course)
