Perhaps a "simpsonesque avatar" thread should be started and then we can have a gallery of images for those who want to see them.
The rule is in place so that when someone posts an avatar of Stuey from Family Guy or Bender from Futurama, I don't have to spend time in a to-and-fro of PMs explaining what the difference is.
Pictures of your own face only, please.
