Good job Professor H. Gumba. Seems to be running beautifully here.

Oooh, a nice little tweak in the last few minutes, to make my all-important links stand out a bit better.

You said it's beta, so what about adding 'Beta' or 'BETA' to the logo in some way? It'l give it a nice change for a while. Change is good!

Minor usability point (putting aside all the little things which I'm sure are in the process of being sorted), it no longer works as well on Opera Mini from a mobile phone as it did before. Aswell as being slower, graphics don't seem to be loading properly. The index page is also hard to navigate, because the orange topic threads background colour doesn't divide into topics - you just have to navigate a mess of words all the same colour on an unbroken orange background.

Personal thoughts on it:

- Getting rid of the home page was a good idea. It only ever really served a purpose when there was more than 1 forum and also to associate itself more closely with TV Forum. I agree entirely that it wasn't really needed.

BUT

- On every bulletin board I've ever participated in, the feature to reply to a post has been called 'reply'. There is no need to rename it 'Please Respond'. The link is also too detached from the body of the forum's design.

- The whole London 2012 ripoff look was funny because the new London 2012 brand is so shit. I thought it was really quirky and cool that Metropol took on a variant of it - for a time. But please tell me that this horrible looking bollocks isn't seriously going to be what Metropol will look like permanently? Last night when for some unknown reason the forum was cycling through it's previous skins it was being documented in the old new look thread (which I note appears to be the *only* thread not to survive the conversion to phpbb3) how much classier those previous looks were. I agree that the old blue was more than in need of replacement, and it was so apt and funny that this came along, but seriously, please don't leave it like this forever - indeed for any length of time longer.

For me, the 'new posts' isn't working and constantly showing the tool tip 'No new posts' even when it's quite obvious there are new posts.

Shouldn't the create a post page look more like the rest of Metropol?

Otherwise, wonderful.

How odd. Now the 'new posts' thing is working...

I think you're missing the point of that, it's a TVF / Metropol "in joke". That's the best thing about all this I reckon.

Great that things are more or less up to date with the new toys, but the design of the site looks utterly fugly now (if you didn't believe it was already). I'm assuming that a new look is on the way?

I think that I also prefered having a homepage to the site, even though I agree that it probably didn't really serve much purpose. But it's nice to have somewhere to wipe your feet.

And I don't like the "please respond" instead of "reply". I know that it's probably a joke in response to the kiddy trolls, but it doesn't make any sense.

But then again, neither do trolls.

No, I think the PleaseRespond is quite funny, though like this whole look, should go soon, when the joke becomes stale.

But I agree with that, a homepage is nice, a place to 'wipe your feet' and just generally looks better than having viewforum.php as the index.
