Well, I am a fan of Doctor Who, but it is mainly that most of the posts are utter shite and theyb think that all new viewers of Doctor Who need to see every villain from the old series. It's like saying bring back Ena Sharples in Corrie, because she was famous but new viewers have never seen her. It's probably the most frustrating discussion I've ever had. That's right Ron. There was no PC in the guest house where I was staying. Anyhow, I didn't go to Cornwall (some 180 rail miles from where I live) to surf the net. If I wanted to go surfing, I'd have gone surfing in the sea at Newquay, but for your information, although I went to Newquay one day, I didn't go surfing there (I've never done it, it hasn't appealed to me) - I wandered around Towan Beach and town centre, then went swimming and water sliding at an indoor pool.Ron Owen wrote:Hopefully there is no PC in his holiday abode.

Sorry if you thought I was annoying you with my stuff about BSB Squarials. The thing is, surely if you had a BSB system, even though Sky gave you a free dish and box, you'd have still wanted to have put your BSB system to use, wouldn't you. The Marco Polo satellite was still going after BSB died, albeit from a new orbital location, so the most obvious thing one would have fancied doing would have been to turn one's BSB minidish or Squarial around to face the satellite's new position. Alternatively, you might have been able to use it to use your BSB minidish / Squarial for some other satellite, I've seen somewhere else many along the south coast were reorientated to face a French satellite for reception of French channels.
When I subsequently launched my DXing thread, that was NOT intended to annoy the DS community by continuing the multiple masthead amps debate. I just wanted to start a sensible civil discussion about DXing - that's after all, something that TV enthusiasts do, is it not: seeking distant transmitters your'e not intended to receive. I asked if the signal from distant transmitters is possible by using multiple amps in series, or alternatively using multiple aerials (stacking). And then, we all know what happened ...
What was wrong with starting a thread to discuss what some keen TV enthusiasts do? If you have a multi mode TV, like my Mitsubishi one (with PAL and SECAM colour systems), and a high gain set-up (stacked aerials), you may be able to pick up French terrestrial TV. I bet someone along the south coast with an adequate aerial system and suitably equipped TV (with SECAM as well as PAL) must have done that. Now what was there to cause offence with that thread?Can't people take some things with a pinch of salt?
