This time, it's kinda scary. My HP Personal Media Drive contained a folder full of videos and pictures of my dog. I've now realised it's gone, and i'm 100% sure I haven't deleted it. Baring in mind a while back, a folder decided to move all of it's contends to another folder on the same drive which had nothing in it.
Any ideas on what the fuck is going on?

Use a proper hard disk instead.

You haven't been fiddling around with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 have you?
I've had real problems with installing some pieces of software because I tired the trial versions at some stage. I had to run a script to purge my pc of all references to the software and managed to lose a folder full of precious things in the process.
It did warn me at several points to back up all my data and files, but I didn't.

There are definitely some odd issues with things now owned by Adobe, especially if you've got stuff on your machine which is an old version of something now owned by them.
For example, If you've got Adobe Acrobat reader version 7 onwards on your machine, it'll stop Cool Edit Pro version 2 working and insist you pay lots of money for an upgrade to Adobe Audition.
The only workaround I found was to revert to CEP version 1, which Acrobat Reader doesn't seem to recognise as a "legacy" product.
It all APPEARS to be to do with the Adobe automatic updater, but I'm not certain on that bit.
