You're an imaginative one, Mr Owen.

It is a nice design, and I wish they'd hurry up and do the others, but the plan is for them to change over the next 2 years. Last time they didn't bother with the £50 which just stayed with the old design.

They wouldn't instantly recall all notes and coins. They would just be changed during the natural cycle. It's only the fact that the present monarch has such longevity (and we changed the entire currency in 1971) that there are no longer any coins bearing the head of any other sovereign. However, until the new smaller 5p and 10p came into existance it wasn't uncommon to see "shilling" and "two shilling" coins with George VI or earlier on them as they were interchangeable with decimal currency.

Furthermore, Charles may have his face on the coins in future, but he will call himself George VII. And after Phillip shuffles off this mortal coil Edward becomes Duke of Edinburgh.

EDIT:
I'm not going to say what seems to have got smaller with age

Roll on the Euro.

AFAIK the UK versions of the Euro (when we eventually join) will still have the monarch's head on the front.

I would be more than happy to have a flacid penis the size of Scandinavia (although I could foresee logistical problems with something so cumbersome  )
