The Mozart Effect

Anonymous

The Mozart Effect is a theory that puts forth the notion that listening to certain types of music can be beneficial to children in-utero or in the pre-toddler age group. Apparently, we have this common internal neural language that we're born with and if you can exploit the neurons that fire the sequences with the right stimuli then the brain will develop quicker.

In addition, it is thought adults listening to the music can receive a temporary boost in spatial reasoning and memory. The effect sometimes includes the body healing itself through the use of music and a self awareness of divinity and worldliness.

However, perhaps this argument collapses under some simple common sense -if Mozart’s music were able to improve health, why was Mozart himself so frequently sick? If listening to Mozart’s music increases intelligence and encourages spirituality, why isn't every Mozart connoisseur amongst the world's elites...and their children child proteges?

Do you think there's any truth in this? More generally, do you think music has the power to improve people's health, education, and well-being and what kind of music might this be?

Ouch, my brain! Couldn't you just put, 'Mozart is supposed to make you clever'?

Umm, this is the simple version

Perhaps you should listen to 'Mass in C Minor' then read it again!
