Stupid Councils - Meddling gone too far

London Borough of Camden has decided that BBQs being used by people other the caterers is dangerous:

From the second article: A council letter to festival organisers said: “There are significant risks to members of the public as well as to the site itself if coal barbecues are allowed. As a policy we do not allow coal barbecues as we would be unable to police safe use of coal across our parks and open spaces.”

What rot, Barbecues have been around for years & there have been no problems, why do these overpaid idiots get to inforce these stupid laws. :x

Anybody had anything so stupid enforced near them of recent or are the London Boroughs really been run by twats

I agree in one respect - it's frustrating. But these restrictions are brought about beacuse idiots have adopted the US style litigation system of taking councils to court because they have tripped over a crack in the pavement et al.

You would be the first to complain if your entire street's Council Tax went to an individual who sued because they were splattered by fat flying off a cooking sausage.

You are perhaps fighting about the wrong issue!

I think the real point is that the council shouldn't be worried about litigation.

If someone is injured by a BBQ in a park their action should be to sue the person responsible for it - let the court decide which party is at fault.
