Closure of Liverpool Underground (Wirral Line)

Is anybody else affected by this really pain-in-the-arsey closure of the 'Liverpool Loop'? Basically, it is adding about 40 minutes onto my journey every day,I am pissed off at having to walk all the way to James Street rather than Liverpool Central and James Street being so bloody damp that I come out of there every day thinking I am suffering from some kind of disease from inhaling mold.

The Loop is closed until the end of the month for 'engineering' works.

Shows what an awesome public transport system we have.

How far's James Street from Lime Street, I know Central is only about less than 5 minutes walk from Lime Street, which is convienient if you're interchanging. Saying that I prefer to drive whenever I venture into Liverpool, but I guess most of you would call me mad for doing so.

Especially with all the road works at the moment!

LS is about the same distance from JS as central, if you cut through St. Johns, but they do a bus service to Lime (Although it would probably be faster to walk), and its about 8 mins from Moorfields according to the man on the PA system.

Thing is though, their doing the buses like they are the trains, locally their doing them to the bus stops etc, rather than the bus stations that actaully work

I don't know what it is with governments (this one and the previous) and train lines.

London is perhaps the most luckiest in the UK with regards to having an extensive British Rail, London Underground & Docklands Light Rail Network, although even certain areas of London have lost British Rail services.

Camberwell (South East London) is a classic example not only did it loose it's British Rail service over 50 years ago it has also had plans of an Bakerloo Line extension shelved on at least three occasions (1949/50, 1970's and more recently in 2003/4).

The problem with Camberwell (which is the case with other rail plans in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool & Birmingham) is they always say there's sufficient bus services because there are about 35 different routes running from the centre of town, however a bus route is only as good as the roads nearby and unfortunately in most cases roads can't cope because of 4x4's & fucking MPV's that are now oh so neccesary
