Smoking bans.

Yes, currently many pubs are full of smokers, because the non-smoking majority is put off going there.

So we should alienate one group in favour of another? Why can't everyone be catered for?

Surely if there was *such* a demand for no-smoking pubs, then loads would have popped up already?

I can't understand why it's so unreasonable for, for example, a large pub or club to have even just a small area for smokers, out of the way, upstairs, wherever. As I've said, when I go out on a Tuesday night, I drink, smoke some fags, and have a good time with my mates. Why should I not be allowed to continue enjoying this?

The ban isn't that much of a serious inconvenience.

smoke in clubs doesn't bother me. what does bother me is the mongs who decide to have a lit cigarette and wave it within millimetres of your 'beautiful clothes', as hannah hauxwell would say. when i buy an extremely fashionable and desirable blouse, i do not want to be in a constant state of peril when there are slightly tipsy/drunk/ignorant people with a red hot thing in their hand.

as always its just the minority who do that, and i'm sure the resident metropol smokers are of the highest calibre.

but still i consider it a health and safety issue. and consider the money i have just spent in rackhams or somewhere equally as exclusive to be far more important than smokers rights

I do feel for them sometimes around here in the rain and cold weather, especially in some of the pubs around town with no other place to go outside except the street.

Still, if you're trying to pass through its a case of holding your breath :p

The latest fight in the battle to cut the number of kids that smoke is to ban packets of 10 cigarettes and to get rid of vending machines in pubs and clubs something i'm for because those vending machines are a bloody rip off.

It could work banning packs of tens as the 20 packs are too expensive, but there will always be one kid at school that will nick their parents fags and sell them in singles. Some cornershop near my school used to sell one cigarette for 5p.

The City Of Westminster (complete bastard London Borough) want's to even ban that idea, along with free parking for moped's among other things
