Top Story: Kate and William split (!)

Anonymous

Howdy,

Can I ask, why the hell is this the top story on BBC.co.uk/news, sky.com/news, itv.com/news and BBC (saturday) breakfast?! Do I really give a damn if Kate and William have split up? Urgh it really irritates me, it is not headline material!

I'm not interested in Celeb relationships, if I was i'd read Heat! And don't get me started on my view on the monarchy...

I bet the bright spark at Woolworths who ordered those 10,000 commemorative items in anticipation of an engagement feels a bit sick...

Am I the only person who is somehow not completely surprised by news of this "shock split"? I dunno - I just always had a gut feeling it wasn't destined to be.
What the fuck is a samoflange?

As long as Wills stays away from my sexy missus, I don't care what he does. ;)

I agree, this is hardly news. Are we now going to be treated to scoops from the gutter tabloids every time Wills is seen out having a drink with a new girl?

Well, I suppose it's cheaper to fill the column inches with this tat than going out and doing some real journalism.

It's a Saturday, It was a pretty non eventful night newswise, the only noteworthy thing being Bush meeting Brown. The latest Iraqi outrage hadn't broken at the time so I think in the circumstances leading with it is ok. I'll rejudge the news values if it's still the main story on the News Channels mid afternoon. It will of course lead the early main network news programmes of the day.

News is boring these days. It's full of simpering, agenda-driven journalists.

I'll log onto the BBC News site rather than watch a TV bulletin, because I get the sense that the BBC site is more impartial than the BBC's television news service.

However, the true news junkie will flick through half a dozen news channels consistently every few minutes. The top of the hour becomes a dilemma for them as they can't decide which TOTH sequence to watch. CNN, Sky, News 24, AJI??!?! "Arrgh".

Poor things. I'm rambling now. I'm turning into Nick Harvey. Stop sniggering at the back, madam!

Yes, I am turning into him. Right, I'm off! Where's me remote control?

To be honest is this split really a surprise? The fact the gutter press wouldn't leave her alone & were taking pictures of her when she was walking to work shows that all this gumpth about learning from the death of Diana was infact lies, but then again the gutter press always lie.

 at the bloke in Woolworths, they'll have to go into their bargin buckets now

Jon Holmes on 6Music is/was taking the piss out of it, and apparently media intrusion was the reason, see the gutter press never learn do they.

Why should our Chancellor of the Exchequer need to meet with Dubya - or was it just a jollie for Mr & Mrs Brown to the US at our expense? I don't recall Henry M Paulson, Jr. (their Secretary of the Treasury) popping over for tea and biscuits with the head of our Executive.

This situation is now becoming irritating beyond belief. If we are to get another PM without the electorate having a say, then get on with it - do the dirty deed! Don't spend months (nay more than a year) running with a "dual leadership" fiasco.

Polls indicate that Brown as PM would lose a general election, so bring it on!
