Adjusting picture on Bush TV

I (for my sins) have a Bush WS6671 widescreen TV (it was cheap, alright!)

When watching News 24, the ticker on the right of the screen is full height, but on the left only just over half the DOG shows - it's cut off at the horizontal line on the 4 of NEWS 24. The whole bottom bar slopes down from right to left.

This is obviously a problem with my TV. Does anyone know if there's something inside I can adjust. I've got a degree in electrical and electronic engineering so I'll know what I'm doing, just that I don't know much about TVs!

Is there a site somewhere on the interweb that would help?

There *may* be a hidden service menu for adjusting the geometry though some sets simpy don't have one and that kind of adjustment is fixed in the firmware.

Google and Google and Google the model name and number, using tags such as "service menu", "maintenance menu" or even "reduce overscan" and similiar sort of terms.

There may be a hidden setup menu on the TV which would allow you to alter things such as overscan, picture position, the shape of the tube, etc. If there isn't, you're out of luck. If there is one, all settings you alter take effect immediately, so write them down before you start fiddling, so you can at least get it back to the state it's in now.

I dare say if you screw the picture geometry up enough, you can get the TV replaced under your warranty. Whether this'll work is another matter.

My old 15" Ferguson CRT Flat Screen (in that sense) used to do that and it really drove me up the wall, it didn't look as bad in Letterbox mode as it cut some of it off, but in 4:3 it was dire. Best example was when the ITV News Channel was still running, you couldn't see the DOG, all that was on-screen were the 4 Squares.
