It's an irrational fear, the way to look at it is think of all the times you are in the house with the Sky Plus box on. How many times has it caught fire ?
Whilst it's an irrational fear, it is entirely possible for it to catch fire there is an electrical fault with it that causes it to overheat etc. I am sure such irrational fears will stem from somewhere - maybe an experience in your earlier life that causes you to do a certain thing?

For me, it's dogs. When I was little I nearly got bitten badly by an alsatian (sp?) and ever since I've always been wary about dogs. If they get too close, I walk as far away as possible. Even if it means crossing the road. If it starts barking and acting all snappy then I'm off in a shot.

As for the last things I do at night, have a glass of water, brush my teeth, put whatever needs to be charged on and crawl into bed. And check the front and kitchen doors locked.

i've been known to trot downstars two or three times to double check. i always turn off/lock things 'automatically' without thinking, but it always makes me paranoid that i've forgotten. i've got halfway home from work, turned around because i thought i'd left the window open. (i handn't)
Thats the last thing i do about 6 times before i leave the house.

Before i go to sleep..

Get a glass of milk or water and go to sleep watching a comedy. Preferably The young ones. Nice to see Filthy Rich and Catflap is getting an airing on gold. Oh and i normally have a little growl and swear at the alarm clock as i'm setting it for the morning.
