We're up to 1687 members now, half of which are surely those annoying lamisil.ru type bots that are registering. I feel as though I'm being spied on by these russian interweb viagra floggers.

Is there something which you can do with phpBB to stop it? Say a security code re-type?

Possibly there is an easy fix, but I haven't got the knowledge to do it.

I was (for a very long peroid) spending time every day sweeping them up, but it involved a lot of copying and pasting them into the management page and deleting.

Most if not all of the accounts are not live as they use bogus email addresses and therefore cannot be activated. It doesn't prevent them from registering on the database though, and therefore, so do all those website links which they are advertising. I think that is their sole function.

Having overlooked the housekeeping for a week during a busy period, the list grew so long that I never did get round to starting the cleanup. And now it's too big as the signups happen at an alarming rate.

It's going to have to be a matter for Martin who, although not often present, has renewed the domain for a couple of years.

That is hard for some people.

I am not sure why, probably something with my vision, but I can't get them right.

It must be a nightmare for the dyslexic.

what version of phpBB are we currently running? is it an ancient one as there's been about 4 billion new versions released since this place started.

An excellent way to weed out the banal weirdos from the forum!

Dyslexics are not banal or weird though. It is no reflection of their intelligence.

Some kind of idiot filter would be useful, but much less easy to apply.

Although after seeing the new signup one could conclude that anyone with James Martin's IP address should be considered.

Please don't force me to apply a permanent ban James. I can and will if you continue to sign up with multiple accounts.

I hope you lot aren't being rude about Swindon's new evening show presenter.

Cracking FM, on air Saturday 2nd September on 107.7.

James Martin, the greatest DJ in the country. In the country, he's the greatest; in town, he's not so hot!
