So people, do you want regular chat nights/days?

Sput is way too busy with all his scientific chemical equation thingymajiggys so doesn't have the time to organise such high profile events.

Is it worth resurrecting our highly intelligent chats in the room or continue as we are?

What nights would suit you?

May I join you in these chats? I haven't had the pleasure of being a participant until now, seeing as I'm fairly new, or at least contributing a bit more frequently.

works ok here, daniel.

make sure you've got the latest version of the java runtime environment (and that it works) and your firewall isn't blocking it. when i visited it for the first time i seem to recall i had to "allow" it to connect.

Of course you're welcome. The last chat night - which was ages ago- i couldn't access the room but i put that down to my stoopid pootah being temperamental. I'm free most evenings but Sundays are when i have alot of time to myself with no interuptions.

Who's going to be in charge of manning the chat controls? That was Sputs job, he kicked loads of people when he was in charge.

Actually i have the same problem. I've disabled my firewall but i still can't get anything.
Javascript is like swahili to me. What is the latest version of Java runtime? Sorry Doc but i'm abit of a pootah novice still!

Also how do you sticky this thread? Not permanantly just for a limited time if people are interested.

right, all you with a cross in that chat applet need to download and install the java runtime environment:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

from that page select the second one down, which reads:

J2SE v 1.4.2_12 JRE includes the JVM technology
The J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

go for the offline installer, download and run the setup.

just accept yes to any warning dialogs and allow the applet through your firewall and all will be well.

on a slightly different note, microsoft making virtual pc a freebie is one of the best things they've done recently - can't believe how much i use it... any of those little apps that look useful that in the past i'd be slightly afraid of installing incase they damage my windows install i can now play with until my hearts content, and, more importantly i can develop my server service applications without having to go up starts and reset the pc every now and again when i make an error.

Big hugs to you Mark Everything is working hunkydory now..

Btw.. Mr. Hellfire will be working round your neck of the woods soon. I'll ask him to cause as little disruption as possible while he's laying cables for your new suoer duper bus stops.

Coochie coos to Cuthbert from Mouse and me.

any reason why you're giving them 1.4.2 rather than 1.5 Mark?

Well I can get into it now, all regards to Dr Lobster*. The problem is what time do the others normally log onto it?
