Favourite Beatles song?

What would you say is your favourite Beatles (if you like them, that is) song, and why? I ask because I've only just discovered them, so to speak, and it amazes me how many brilliant songs they had.

I would say mine is "All You Need Is Love" - a simple message, no cliches, a wide range of instruments and the last song before The Beatles ceased to be The Beatles as a uniform concept, because their manager, Brian Epstein, who was responsible for their group success, died soon after it was released.

I don't have a favourite as i'm not a huge Beatles fan. I do however have one that sticks in my mind for all the wrong and most embarrassing reasons. It's hey Jude and i was forced to sing it on Karoke in a packed club. It was the first and last time i've done Karoke i just hope the video tape is lost.;ve hated the owner of that club ever since.

Good choice. Obviously.

I suppose it is hard to pick out a favourite our of so many hits. But seeing as I'm in quite a good mood at the moment, one I tend to play in such a mood is "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". Disturbing and yet funny lyrics, but when put to such a bouncy beat, it just sounds brilliant.

Anyone who doesn't like The Beatles care to say why they don't like them? The problem I have with them, as with anybody famous and worthy of being famous, is that they have probably come up with so much original stuff that you wonder where you go next. I, for one, find it difficult to write something that doesn't sound innovative. Having said that, I suppose The Beatles did find influences in Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and the like.

I'm currently working on a song called "Crying Orange Tears", as well as trying to write a two-part Doctor Who episode, and it isn't easy. I fear letting people on here see what I've done so far, simply because I can't handle criticism too well if it isn't terribly constructive. Still, do tell me whether or not you're interested, because I think I've realised that I would love some feedback!

Perhaps this is the reason I don't have a girlfriend: I talk too much. Sigh.

I'm in a position where a very dear friend *adores* the Beatles, so sometimes I am made to listen when I would rather not.

But try as I might, I can't not like them.

Ah yes, another classic that is, although for George Harrison songs, my vote goes to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
