Hey, come on Nick.

Footy bringing the nation together. What's sad about that?

whilst there is nothing wrong with the concept of bringing the nation together (i'd argue that such a notion by its very nature is flawed) the problem with football is that it has always been a sanctuary of the intellectually challenged. that's why even today we still have people being hurt for supporting the wrong team or walking into a pub with the wrong type of shirt on.

you've only got to watch them in the pub whilst a game is in progress to verify this to be true. the amount of emotion that some of these men display is nothing short of astonishing - it boarders on the unstable. no wonder these people become violent so easily.

it must be said it is interesting to 'people watch' in these circumstances; In particular it's interesting to observe the non-fans and bandwagon jumpers trying their best to emulate the behaviour of their peers but never really pulling it off.

I suspect the sad majority (of the country) WILL.
Aren't you supposed to do something about this sort of thing?

Well thanks, you've managed to turn my light hearted idea into a serious debate.

Curse you all.

I suspect the sensible majority (of Metropol) will NOT.

One thing that fucks me off: the story about Wayne Rooney's foot. They seem to be having complete saturation with what is a small story. Who gives a shit if he's broken his foot? What does he want? A medal?

A "world cup" I would have thought.

Couldn't agree more though. If I hear one more person say "metatarsyl" I may have to kill someone.

I nudged over the border into Gloucestershire yesterday (Cinderford to be precise) and it was funny how all the cars had English flags on them, and when we got back into Wales, the flags were no more! ;)
